Is my transmission going bad?

Hello Scotty, I just watched your video on “how to tell if a transmission is bad” on YouTube and I currently drive a 2009 Honda Pilot. Sometimes when I go over 2-3 RPM the car would jerk sometimes. It feels as if someone is driving really bad in a manual car and they’re bad at shifting. Doesn’t happen often but when it does I get worried. Any ideas on what it could possibly be? I just bought the car used at 132,000 miles. I checked under the car and there are no leaks.

Didn't this problem show up during the pre-purchase inspection?

Do you have service records for the car? Was the transmission ever serviced? Is the fluid level OK? What is the fluid's condition?

Your transmission could be going bad, especially if it has not been maintained. Or, there could be a problem with electronics, sensors, or solenoids. (I recently helped someone with a Honda transmission shift quality issue and it turned out to be a broken wire going to a pressure sensor, problem found by visual inspection.) If there is nothing visibly wrong you would need a transmission expert to diagnose the issue using a fancy scan tool that can read transmission data.
