Is my turbo failing?

2012 kia sorento diesel 2.2L

Suspected turbo charger problem.

Hi, my car has driven 500,000 km so far and regularly serviced.

Since few months my performance has been dropping and only recently I've been having sudden loss of power when accelerating.

There is no oil burning or unusual noise from the engine. I'm certain the engine is in meticulous condition as it always has been.

Overall very low performance. And when I push the car to accelerate harder, then there is a sudden thud or loss of power and then power comes back

When I say 'sudden loss of power' I'm referring to sudden loss of acceleration. It happens quickly within 1 second - sudden loss of power and then power comes back.

It happens sometimes or when I push the car to accelerate harder than usual, especially during take off from idle in low gears.

I have a suspicion that the turbo charger is worn out or the turbo actuator is not working properly.

Most mechanics are booked out for few weeks so I'm trying my best to pinpoint the likely cause of this.

I have a BlueDriver code scanner and it was not able to find any fault codes.

The car feels like it is driving with no turbo assist and there is no fault lights on the dash board.

I think turbo assist might be dead or malfunctioning which may be the cause of the sudden loss of power.

Or could it he a fuel pump failure?

Well it could be lots of things. So first I'd say pressure test your fuel pump to see if it's going out and change the fuel filter. It could also be just the waste gate on the turbo and not the turbo itself. You have a mechanic check that out
