E20 or 95 gasoline - Mazda 2 skyactiv engine

Hello Scotty,

I live in Thailand and I just bought a Mazda 2 Skyactiv-G 1.3L engine, and the user manual specify that I should use gasoline with RON>95. Mazda dealer recommend using either E20 (20% ethanol + 80% regular gasoline) or "gasohol 95" (10% ethanol + 90% regular gasoline). They both have a RON>95.

Which gasoline type would you recommend for the best engine maintenance and clean ? I would tend to think that E20 is best because it should have slightly higher RON than gasohol 95, but I prefer to check what you think

Thanks a lot in advance.

I would use the one with only 10% alcohol

Stick to the user manual. Triple check every dealership's recommendation.

One of my bad experiences with them

the owner's manual should also specify a maximum proportion of Ethanol you can use, so pay attention to that. It might also be printed on the gas filler door.

Thank you all for your answers.

The gas tank has 95 written in big, and E10, E20 written in small.

The manual mention that ethanol content higher than 10% may damage the engine.

Here is the online manual LINK

Just use E10 or even better - don't use any ethanol.

Realize that it's a GDi engine and the smaller SkyActive engines have some tendency to develop injector issues, you really don't want to cheap out on fuel - no matter how expensive fuel is, injectors issues or results of incorrect combustion will cost more to remedy.
