Is the Acura MDX as good as the Honda Pilot?

I am looking to buy a 2015 AWD Acrua MDX with 70,000 miles, and was wondering if the MDX is as durable as the Pilot.  I want a car that will last between 200,000 to 250,000 miles.

I personally would pass but that is just me they are well made but the AWD transmission tend to be weak if it was a FWD one then sure go ahead but either way have a mechanic check it out and they are great cars especially the interior.

Scotty has videos about the best SUVs to buy and best luxury SUVs to buy and on both of them he mentions the same thing about AWD Hondas.

In all honesty a Lexus RX would last a lot longer.

I cannot recommend this vehicle.  Ignoring the hybrid offering, this generation of MDX (2014-2020) came with the Earthdreams 3.5L V6 engine (J35Y5) equipped with cylinder deactivation.  The cylinder deactivation system has the potential to wear out and destroy the engine overtime, and you mentioned you wanted to keep 200,000-250,000 miles.

The MDX is basically a fancy Pilot. I've seen them go quite a few miles with minimal problems. Just make sure to have a mechanic go over it first before you buy.

Like Mod Man said, the MDX and Pilot are basically the same vehicle. The MDX is just fancier.

But it has a different engine. The similarity is that they both are J35Y VCM (cylinder management/deactivation) engines.

Just have the mechanic check it before you get it.  They had transmission issues so watch out for that before you get it.
