i have a 2009 lexus rx350 with 170,000 mi.  i have been religious about all maintenance.  a few months ago radiator developed leak and was replaced.  then a few days ago while driving on highway engine light came on and a couple minutes later engine died.  towed to mechanic and they say the water pump had large coolant leak and the engine overheated and caused head gasket damage.  he does not recommend fixing head gasket alone because the rest of the engine is high mileage.  is the car worth getting a remanufactured or used/jdm engine or is it time to junk it?  thanks.

I would get a rebuilt head, a top end gasket set and do the work.  It would be worth it to me, but I do the work myself.  Rock Auto - two cylinder heads - $715 each, gasket set - $91.  So for $1500 and some labor, you have another at least 100,000 miles more.  Sounds like a deal to me.
