Hi, I drive a 2007 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo with a 3.7L v6 engine. It is at a little over 150,000 miles and has worked pretty well until around this mark. It has been pretty much freezing for many months and my car will occasionally seem to rev higher and not shift in time, almost like it is going to stall. This is pretty odd to me as it's an automatic and it only happens when I am going from a complete stop to increasing speed like 20mph. This problem happens occasionally. The main issue that I have is that the car is very loud around 50 mph when I am driving. Over and under this speed it starts calm down but it reaches a sort of resonance noise with ringing at this speed. Hopefully this was enough information, I'm really not sure what it could be. I made sure my air intake was okay and it seems to be fine, I also inspected my throttle body and I don't believe it is that either.
Well that sounds to me like you transformation is starting to go out and that's typical. That's the weakest part of that Grand Cherokee. They cost a fortune to repair, especially if you say it's loud at certain speeds could easily be. That's just not shifting into the next gear. So the engine spending too fast because the transmission isn't shifting
