Jeep shuts off while driving

I apologize in advance for the long post however I think this problem needs more attention than I've been able to garner. I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee with, at the time of the problem, 115k miles. V6 with 9 speed auto trans. On several occasions while driving, the car would just shut off. No power brakes, steering, etc. It happened a few times and before we could get pulled over it would start back up again and run normal. Then on one occasion it happened on the interstate doing 65 mph. This time it would not start again. Only warning light was the Auto stop/start system warning light. Had it towed to the dealer and was told that the computer was bad because it wasn't reporting codes. $500 and a week later we picked up the car. On the way home it happened again. We took it back. They kept it 3 weeks and could not duplicate the problem. They drove it about 50 miles trying. We picked it back up. You guessed it, it died on the way home. I bought a scan tool and the DTC was P0688 (Auto Shut Down Relay Control Circuit Open). I bought a replacement APU and replaced it myself (about $300 and 30 mins). We have now put another 40k miles on the car with no issues. This is a dangerous issue that I feel Chrysler/Jeep should be recalling cars for. On CarComplaints.com there have been an enormous amount of reports for this very issue from 2014 to today. I just want to warn everyone that might be thinking about buying one of these (or any Chrysler/Jeep product) that you can forget any kind of customer support.

Yea and sadly that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Chrysler products. I’ve heard horror stories from people. How about a guy who went hunting in his 2021 jeep. Wasn’t mudding but did get some mud splashed underneath, started having electronics issues with different sensors underneath, dealer voided his warranty for admitting he took his Wrangler off road.
