I have a UK 2014 Jeep Cherokee 2.0 CRD (KL) limited multijet.
Struggles to change up from gears 5,6,7,8
The tachometer sits around 1500 and is taking ages to shift up.
If I put my foot down or select sport mode it is ok.
New oil, battery, service said the belt is ok.

First check the transmission fluid level. Has the transmission ever been serviced? That particular transmission has been very problematic in the US. Those transmissions have had the entire kitchen sink of remedies thrown at them; software updates, recalls, replacements.. Take it to a local transmission specialist and have them check it out.
