Scotty hello. Love your youtube channel ! I need your help . I have 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland I take care of like a baby its in mint condition. Im having WEIRD problems with the Air Suspension via Quadralift. Dealers are a disaster & im a reasonable mechinic myself for basic stuff. Here is a summary of the situation. And help you can give is greatly appreciated !

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
Quadralift Air Suspension Problem/Issue
--------------------------------------------------------
Current State : Front lowered more & rear lowered less. Seems to be stuck in Park Mode. Light on console says position 1 & dash says Normal Ride height. Pushing the button does nothing & the system won't move & light just blinks. Sometimes it says Park Mode then goes back to Normal. Also sometimes the quadtalift just fixes itself and then pumps up to what looks like position 2 for off road. The problem changes & the state of the air lift changes. My reading says it's a leak somewhere or there's no nitrogen in the system. I've inspected for leaks & all 4 shocks seem fine. And I've replaced the ( VOSS fitting on all 4 shocks via RMT SKU JWK2-A210-ADFU ) I have an auto scanner & get a code ( AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL MODULE , C1562 , Status: Confirmed , Ride height air pump control circuit : component or system over temperature )
From a youtube video I found this companyrebuildmastertech.com RMT and guys say the voss fitting O-Ring can be bad. So wiggling one of the front VOSS fitting elbows I did get a hiss & leak. All 4 VOSS fittings have been changed.
SYMPTOM_1 - Kept getting a message on the dash "Air suspension system cooling down" & this keeps happening.
SYMPTOM_2 - The drivers side both front & rear were lower one day. So the left side was lower. Lasted 2 days & went away. And pumped back up by itself.
SYMPTOM_3 - The button never works so then the system almost always says normal position but hitting it , it just continues to blink.
SYMPTOM_4 - Sometimes the system says it's in normal position 1 others times it says park mode.
SYMPTOM_5 - Issues change & sometimes back is lower & sometimes front & it fixes itself.
SYMPTOM_6 - Now the front is lower & system says normal one day & park mode the next.
I'm not sure if the compressor is working or bad, or the module mentioned, maybe a leak ? I have soapy watered the shocks & compressor & see no leaks. I hate to take it to a dealer because anytime I deal with a dealer it's a disaster.
Wondering what the common problem is ?
I've had a blown air shock once & that was a different situation. That driver's rear shock just had a tear & was fully down.
In this case the problem changes & it seems there is air or nitrogen in the system. Then the biggest thing is … sometimes the jeep is stuck clearly in level 2 and the air shocks are way pumped up. But the next day the rear is normal & front in parkmode.
Any clue ad to what's wrong here ?
Forgive my typos 😳
Well the button blinking shows there's a problem in the system. You really need a guy like me who has a Jeep dealer level scan tool to analyze the system. Just a normal scan tool doesn't get into that type of data and since it's blinking there's codes for that system but you need a very special computer to access those codes just a $90 scan tool isn't going to give you any of that kind of information
Scotty yes I could absolutely use your help ! Im in Rhode Island myself. Would you know anyone there ?
@jbarryg unfortunately Scotty does not reply back to follow up questions within a thread.
Finding someone with the right scanner great idea.
I recently had body work done at the largest snazziest dealer in the area they sell 7 lines ... mercedes audi porche. They have a top notch body shop.
They are super high volume & make gaggles on all their existing clients im pretty sure the Manager of the body shop could have the Sevice Dept do a diagnostic.
My jeep is actually the same internally as the mercedes SUV of that year. Jeep & Mercedes were one company back then ? And mercedes has air suspension.
Thanks for the replies much appreciated.
Im also thinking the VOSS fittings I replaced maybe solved the problem. But there's just NO NITROGEN in the system.
My wife has a 2013 GC with the same suspension so when I first saw your question it got my attention. It is well known that the Jeep air suspension systems are fraught with peril, and become an “endless money pit” all to themselves as they age.
Unfortunately, you have checked all the usual suspects so I am guessing it’s a less common problem. I am not at all optimistic that most mechanics or even your average dealer technician is going to diagnose it correctly.
I would recommend one of 2 options:
1) find a large, high volume dealer with good service department ratings and hope they can give you a straight answer
2) start looking into installing a spring conversion kit. Not as luxe as the air suspension (and not a cheap fix) but steel springs should last you the rest of the vehicle’s life
I definitely agree , the dealer will likely be confused & just say replace the compressor.
So its a money pit ... 150. for a diagnostic ... 600. for a compressor at least ... 150. to refill the system & then I still might have the same problem.
I do like the ride of the air suspension but with the age of the vehicle I might an issue twice a year with the suspension.
There's so many parts , the 4 shocks , hoses lines fittings tank sensors.
A spring conversion kit seems to make more sense it solves the problem permanently. But quality is lost I think.
