Hello, I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/4.0 straight-six. this morning I went to start it and the battery was dead on it, so I jumped started it and it fired right up the moment I took my foot off the throttle it stopped running I repeated the process numerous times and even tried holing the RPMs around 2k for about thirty seconds but the results were the same ever time. for some reason, it won't stay idling does anyone know of a solution for this problem?
If the battery charge is too low or the battery is defective, it does not have enough juice to keep the car running, so you might need to rev the engine to keep it running.
yes the Battery was dead and the car wouldn't stay running, however i just found out that my throttle need to be adjusted one zip tie later and its fixed. thanks
Check alternator output and battery condition.
