Hey guys...I have a 2017 Ford Fusion 22,000 miles (automatic transmission). I was just wondering about something? When I first start up my car, the engine sounds like a diesel (a little bit loud), but after I've been driving for awhile it's "as quiet as a mouse". (I can barely hear it). I was just wondering why that is? Is that just normal? Nothing is wrong with the car as far as I can tell. Just curious???
I think your engine has GDI. If so, the noise could be from the high pressure fuel pump.
Run a scan for codes and see what comes up.
IDK if this is the case with your Fusion, but a leak or crack in your exhaust system - most often if in the manifold - will do this. The crack will close as the exhaust heats up the metal and makes it expand. If you're not getting any codes, I'd check for this problem.
