Key Fob Battery Change Issue

Topic starter

Scotty I have a 2009 dodge challenger srt8, remote starts fine , unlocks and locks fine. Every now and then when entering the vehicle the dash will say "key fob not detected". Sometimes even pushing the push to start button I'll hears 3 beeps and no response. This began happening after changing the key fob battery. {black}:idontknow:

Did you use a good quality battery? I’ve had terrible luck with the cheap non branded Chinese stuff (it messed up my immobiliser).

Buy another original (Renata/Panasonic) branded battery and check if the problem still exists.

Agree with @itwt. Some fobs need to be reprogrammed after changing the battery, but I don’t think that vintage Chrysler fobs do (But double check the owners manual to be sure). Get a fresh battery and try again.  If not, maybe check with a local locksmith to see if the fob itself is bad (it is 13 years old, after all).
