Hi, I purchased a used 2013 Kia Sportage (automatic) a few months ago with ~90k miles on it. It runs fine except, once every few weeks, it stalls at a red light. The engine shuts off abruptly and quickly. I am able to restart the car without any problem. The check engine light is not on.
I'm in Korea and the local non-dealership mechanics here aren't of the caliber as those I've encountered in the states. I'd like some some guidance on what kind of issues could be causing the problem so I can relay them to the mechanic.

You could try cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor. Also check the usual suspects (filters, spark plugs, fuel pressure, vacuum leaks, etc.) A full diagnostic scan for codes and data might help.
