Knocking after wheel aligment

Hi!

I have a 2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI with 166000 miles.

Had a change of bushings + a wheel aligment on all four wheels.

When i recieved it back there was hugh metal knocking sound on my left back tire when running over bumps. I returned the car back to the shop and they said that the shock absorber gave in when they lifted up the car at some point?? How is that possible if they indeed made an alligment of the wheels with a broken absorber? I dont believe that this is true at all, so my question is: What can cause this type of knocking? Is there any bolts that have not been fasten properly perhaps when they did the alligment?

Their explanation makes no sense.  They need to go back and fix their mistake.

If this is the case, allignment should be off too. Take the car to a good alligment shop to do the job.
