knocking on cold engine 2009 Highlander

Bought a 2009 Highlander limited (3.5L v6) with 190K miles. Runs fine so far. Now that it's getting cold, the engine is knocking a bit at cold start, but goes away as soon as it warms up. Didn't happen at all when the weather was warm. What is that and what should I do about it?

Thanks!

Hey, is there a way you can add audio or audio/video of this comparing the cold vs warm?

I will try, but it only knocks when under a load, so I have to be driving for it to happen.

what weight oil are you running?

i've had vehicles that in chicago winters acted like that.

could be that the oil has pretty much drained down into the pan.

5W 30 full synthetic which is what the manual recommends for the 3.5L with towing capability. My thought is that it's almost 200k miles and some knock in the cold is to be expected, but am not sure.

And I should add, I am in MN so a knocking engine in the winter is not unheard of.
