Hey Scotty,
I'm a big fan from the UK!
I'm looking at purchasing a Lexus GS (2012-2015). The GS250 comes with a 2.5 litre V6 (same engine as the IS250), which makes me wonder if it would prove under-powered for the GS? Unfortunately here in the UK we never got the 3.5 litre option (GS350) so I'm also considering the 450H which is supposed to be a replacement for the V8 since I can't actually afford a GS F (V8).
I know the battery can cost a small fortune to replace but here in the UK Lexus offers a warranty for the battery - with each Hybrid Health Check at the dealership, you receive an extra 1 year or 10,000 mile (whichever comes sooner) hybrid battery warranty extension, until your vehicle is 15 years old.
My question is, is the 450H worth it? For example, I was looking at a 2013 GS 450H with about 80,000 miles on it. Or should I just go with the standard 2.5 litre V6 which is actually cheaper too?
I question buying used Toyotas because of high repairs when they break.
really? 😆 😆 😆
In your opinion, which car has less cost to repair?
I would keep looking. I question buying used Toyotas because of high repairs when they break. The used Lexus hybrid would make the matter worse.
You also didn't mention price or mileage and on the GS250. I would walk away and look at something else.
I was looking at a 2012 GS250 the other day with about 60k miles. That's another thing, should I be worried about the low mileage? By the way, I'm not considering cars that were driven in London where the traffic is so bad the average speed is about 15-20mph in stop and go traffic lol.
Check with a mechanic before buying. 60k miles is not bad though.
Here's a 2012 GS250 with 52k miles (only 1 previous owner) that I've been looking at. Price at £13k.
