Hey Scotty should I sell my 2007 Lexus GS350 with 80k miles for a 2013 GS350 with 125k miles? Both are similar in price. Would a newer car with higher mileage be more reliable than an older car with lower mileage?
Both are under $20k.
The amount of mileage on both of these cars are still in their infant stage for a Lexus to be honest.
it all depends on the condition of both vehicles. It’s unlikely, but have you had any problems with your 07 GS350 recently (or beginning to notice something giving out that will need repair in the future)? Has the owner of the 2013 GS350 mentioned any issues with the vehicle? Is it a clean title?
honestly from my experience, if you know your current car has been well maintained, I would stick with the 07 GS350 because you know how it’s been treated and it has such low mileage. Unless you personally know the individual selling the other vehicle they could have treated it like crap for all you know. That being said, both of these cars will probably last you a long LONG time if you treat them well.
Thank you for your reply. Nothing has needed to be replaced on the 2007 apart from the starter, and it was purchased from a used car lot. The 2013 is also at a used car lot. The 2013 also appears to have a clean title and maintenance from a lexus dealer according to the carfax. The listing is https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/JTHBE1BL5D5021215
All other things being equal, I'd always go for the lower mileage car as mileage indicates usage and time doesn't.
