Hey Scotty,
I’ve recently been looking for a new vehicle to drive the family around in and i was wondering what your thoughts were on a 2015 LEXUS GX460 4WD. I found a used one that’s being sold at a dealership with 86,000 miles.
Would you say this is a reliable vehicle? Around what mileage would you start seeing issues with these? What would be the typical problems these could give me down the line?
They are extremely reliable but the V8's will cost more to repair and are less durable after 150k miles than 6 cylinder lexus's. The highlander would outlast that thing but it is also a very nice option.
They are solid vehicles, although they have some issues: They are gas hogs and repair costs for these V8 Lexus cars are astronomical. If you do no mind these two, they can be excellent cars, but before putting down any money, find a trustworthy mechanic to check this car completely.
That Lexus $ can buy a decent Toyota 4Runner, cheaper to repair, more capable for off road. Their chassis are similar, at least they can use same floor mats / floor liners.
GX 460 V8 drinks premium gas.
Toyota highlander is unibody SUV, not same as gx and 4Runner that type of body on frame vehicles.
