Hi Scotty,
I drive Lexus is350 FSport 2014 2GR-FSE in Scotland Glasgow weather is mild winter and warm summer with consistent rainfall and high humidity year-around, i have used Castrol Edge 5W30 LL in my car for a year and i noticed that my car was burning engine oil sop i had to top it up more two to three times in a year. Then next year i used 0W20 fully synthetic oil and noticed that my car has stopped burning engine oil, throttle response increased and fuel mileage went up significantly. I was worried about engine wear so i took sample of oil after6 months and send it to Lab and result came back excellent and found no engine particles. I change engine oil every 6 months regardless of mileage religiously and i run my car maximum 400 to 500 miles in 6 months.
My question is that should i keep using 0w20 or i can experiment with 0w16 or i should only use 0w30 only rather thank 5w30ll? Please advise? Thank you
If the results from 0W-20 oil tested excellent and it's no longer burning oil, keep using it. I believe your owner's manual recommends 0W-20 . No experimenting needed.Lab and result came back excellent and found no engine particles.
