I have a 2015 Corolla CVT with just under 132k miles. I went for a long drive (about 5 hours) last Thursday and towards the end of my drive as I got off the highway, I was coming to a stop and as I was braking I felt a couple of thumps coming from underneath me. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the transmission. It went away after and it has not come back since. Also this isn't the first time my car has done this. Ever since I got the car at around 100k miles almost 3 years ago it has done this a couple times, but always goes away for a while after happening 1-2 times while stopping. I just don't know what exactly it is.
Check your engine and transmission mounts.
I would be checking underneath for anything unusual
I should also mention that it ran completely fine throughout the entire drive. I also got an oil change a couple hundred miles prior to the drive (about 350 mile drive)

First, Check your engine mounts and transmission mounts, like what has already been mentioned by @chucktobias and @imperator. If that's not the culprit, check to see if any of your suspension components are worn out e.g. ball joints and tie rod ends. To tell what's bad, first put your hands at the 6 and 12:00 position. on the wheel. shake it. vertically. If it goes Clunk-clunk your ball joints are bad. If they test ok, repeat the same test at the 3:00 and 9:00 position then shake horizontally. if there is clunk-clunk then your tie rods are bad.
