Hi Scotty,
I have a 2003, Lexus LX470, imported used from the USA (when it had around 160000 miles). It has now 315000 miles, and it burns some oil, less than 1 liter every 2-3000 miles, and besides some grey smoke when I start it up, the engine runs perfect otherwise.
But to my surprise, the owner manual says it is ok to burn up to 1 liter every 600 miles (and since this is in the manual I assume they mean even when the car is new)
Does that mean the issue of burning oil is blow way out of proportion.

Well it's all those miles. That's pretty normal. The engine is worn and they will burn more oil when they get that kind of age on them
