Scotty,
I just bought a 2016 Lexus NX 200t with 38,500 miles on it. Car manual and gas cap both say “premium required.” In the manual it says premium is required for “optimal engine performance” but later goes to say that it can run on minimum 87 octane. Will my car be okay if I put regular, 87 octane gas in it instead of premium?
Thank you,
Stewart
Hello, I work for Lexus. When they gas them they put 87 in them all the time. It’ll be fine. Of course they prefer premium because it gets better gas mileage. You’ll just notice premium gas last longer than regular but it’s not hurting the car at all.

My friend has a 2020 NX and she’s been using 87 since she got the car and hasn’t had an issue.
