I have been watching Scotty's videos on which cars are the best, type of engines and transmissions to stay away from etc. When looking at the Lexus RX350 2017 or newer all of the V6 engines have the GDI or PDI types. I know Scotty recommended to stay away from the GDI do to carbon built up, but is the PDI the say and is a MPFI any better? Thanks! Monica
The 3.5L V6 engines in those and lots of Toyota products have had D-4S fuel injection for a while, which has both port and direct injection. The port injection will spray the back of the intake valves, thereby mitigating any carbon buildup. The technology has been around for a while and is proven. This is better than an engine that is direct-injection only like many out there (such as Honda, Mazda, Subarus).
