[Solved] Lexus Vs. Mitsubishi?

Hi Scott,

I know you're a big fan of Toyota/Lexus. But let me hear your opinion about my case. I purchased a 2006 Lexus IS250AWD and a 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander AWD (LS). Got the vehicles new. The Lexus has been recalled 13 times, that's in addition to exhaust system severe corrosion, strut failure, O2 sensor failure. The Lexus is only driven 76,000 km. On the other hand, the Mitsubishi has never been recalled, driven 200,000 km, not even a single problem. To say the least, I can NOT recommend buying Lexus.

I look forward to hearing from you.

No make is perfect. And Toyota/Lexus is no exception.

However if you take all the bad experiences and good experiences with makes across the board, more often than not, Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura are more resilient than the other makes.

aw damn, I guess Scotty is wrong, and your one car proves that his 50 years of being a mechanic was all for nothing.

Ok so you had a bad experience with a Lexus and want to say it is a bad brand because of it and that Mitsubishi, a brand that is all but dead here in the states, is better using, again, a sample size of.......1?

If you don't want to recommend Lexus, then don't. I'm not sure what you would expect Scotty to tell you. No manufacturer makes 100% perfect cars, just like some Fiat 500's run fine for 100k miles or more.

You got the ugly duckling Lexus and a good Mitsubishi. Posts like yours I really don't understand the purpose of.

That sucks that you are not satisfied with your Lexus. I think Scotty was saying the overall review of all customers. So not everybody will be getting a reliable one.

Btw, recalls aren’t necessarily a bad thing, IMHO. It shows the make is finding things and fixing things preemptively.

I’d rather 13 recalls in 10 years, than my car breaking down at 10 years.

Sorry about your experience with Lexus all companies have lemons and there are so many factors involved in making a car reliable for instance a Toyota Corolla was junked at 170k miles by my parents a while back because it kept on leaving them on the side of the road when people say it should have gone 300k+

Maintenance condition etc. etc. so many things that are involved.

Good luck with your Mitsubishi though!

I see these kinds of experiences from owners of every make and model so this is nothing new.  No automaker is perfect, but overall grading on a curve Toyota/Lexus are still at the top.  Sorry about your experience, but I would still recommend them over any other automaker.
