Scotty, Tony From your old hood Toronto, Canada... Bmw 2007 328xi Wagon... 180,000KM on it. I like the wagon because it was different. I have lifter tick. Seams like 1 lifter... started in the summer but it seems to be getting louder. I can really hear it when I go through the tim hortons drive through, especially at idle.

Will it blow up? I understand they have hydraulic lifters... other then the noise will my car last...  I am very handy guy, could I change the lifters my self, or is it not worth it?

You need to take your Beemer for a regular “Italian tune up"! Seriously. Those hydraulic lifters need to be purged of old, stagnant, thickening oil. Your engine hates, … and I mean, hates low RPM driving! It needs a bit higher temperatures to drive out the moisture out of the oil, too. Try that, … it really, really works.

F.S.

… btw, your engine will not blow up!

Agree on the moisture/oil white sludge. The only cars I know that are worse is Merc's. Yea, change lifters but be sure to check/inspect/spec cams. Low rpm and short drives is very bad for them and adding the Canadian environment...
SN+ oil, always warm it up before loading it and insure you maintain good PCV.
