Hi guys, I'm looking for any help with my 2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. A few days ago, out of nowhere, it turned on but wouldn't start. The control panel had the following icons: "stop safely now" and "cross traffic system fault". My simple OBD scanner showed P060C (Internal Control Module Main Processor Performance) as the only error code. Tried resetting the PCM by disconnecting the battery and draining power reserves like in this Scotty video. Also had the battery checked in Autozone and replaced (it wasn't too bad, but it was last changed in 2018, so figured it might help. It didn't).

An acquaintance came by with a fancier scanner and it showed U3000:49-60. They also helped check the fuses and visually inspected cables and the PCM and couldn't find anything. I think??? they tried to reset the PCM with their device, but it didn't work; again, I'm not sure I understood exactly why, but they said something about empty As-Built codes like SOD-L 14 0000 0000, and trying to do it manually, but downloading an AB package from motorcraftservice isn't working right now, some server error, and we couldn't do it. Is trying to reflash or replace the PCM even a good option? I found this other forum that says that "controllers are most often replaced in error" with this code, but I can't really think of any other issues to check.

My main dilemma is that the car is a no-start, and the nearest mechanic is quite a bit away, so towing is very expensive. At this point, I'm not sure trying to fix it is worth the money it would cost, and we're a bit tight right now. I also called the dealership and they offered their nearest slot a week away, and told me diagnostics would take another 1-2 weeks. Junk car buyers websites are giving me offers of 300-400, which is... a lot less than I expected tbh. So I would appreciate literally any guesses or input or personal anecdotes or opinions. Thanks in advance   -A

PCM internal hardware failure appears likely.

Thank you, I believe I've seen this page. If so, is it most likely a replacement case, then?

That's what the code suggests, though a professional familiar with that vehicle would be able to make a more accurate assessment. Chances are if the PCM does need to be replaced you would need a dealer to program the new unit.

Thanks again, I appreciate it
