2004 Lexus GX470 192000 mi. not tested for codes. (1) changed Batt. used 9v in cig.lighter socket correctly to inst. Now Mpg readout acts erratic.when stopped goes to (00) reading than erratic when moving. (2) drivers dr adj doesn't work. also, bought with 170000 on it. best vehicle I've ever owned Im 78 yrs old.Should I reset computer to factory with 5watt resister as You suggested? 9V isn't enough. It's a 12V system. Everything was reset.

yes. When you're stopped, you're moving zero miles per gallon.

if you reset it again, you're back to square one. Erratic readings for even longer.
Just leave it alone and drive.
