Was wondering what y'all thought about different trucks just got into cable technician and if I like it I was looking to find a good work truck for this line of work thanks in advance

What is your budget?

don't try to get a luxury truck as well; your going to go crazy trying to find a luxury truck used at a decent price. Get the base models.

If a van would work Econolines are solid. If not an old Ranger or F150 are probably your best bets. Of course the Tacoma and Tundra are the best but you will pay through the nose for those.

You looking new or used? Budget?  Diesel or gas? 1/2 ton 3/4 or 1 ton? You want 4x4 or RWD? There’s a lot missing that would be helpful in narrowing down something rather then just a broad statement on trucks.

@blast2012

I’ll tell you what I’ve seen and my experience with works trucks since they’ve played a major roll in my work. If you’re going gas. 11-15 F150 with 5.0 V8 w/ 6 speed trans is a great option. Early to mid 2000s Chev 1500 great option as well. I guess Tundra wouldn’t be bad, in all the job sites I’ve been to 1 had a singe Tundra on it. Not to say it’s not a work truck but the Japanese don’t have any interest as of now to build up their 1/2 ton truck line. American manufacturers such as Ford is only in business because of their trucks and they know this so they stick to building up and perfecting their trucks. If you wanted to move up to 3/4 ton gas look for F250 6.2 V8 w/ 6 speed trans, or GM 6.0 vortec V8 isn’t a bad option either. If you want diesel 12 valve Cummins w/ manual trans will go 1million mi. Ford 7.3 Powerstroke will be a great option. Gms 6.6 LBZ duramax w/ Allison trans would be very good.

Essentially any 95-early 2000's chevy or Ford that doesn't have cylinder deactivation on it. I always prefer the F-150 and you can get a great deal on one. Just avoid the 5.4 3V.

The stepside Silverados and F-150's were a great set of parts. I love the 00' F-150 and Silverado stepsides.
Wouldn't recommend the Ram's because the interior of them will be absolutely terrible at this point, but you can certainly consider one.

Don't forget about older GMC Sierras as well.
