Loss of acceleration after driving it for 40 minutes

Hello Scotty,

I have an issue with my 1998 4Runner. I drove it once and no issues. However, after 40 minutes and when I got into a ramp to get into a highway, it wasn't accelerating properly and kept on losing power while driving. I managed to drive it to a safer location and got it towed. I had the same issue earlier this year and I believed it was the thermostat since the temperature needle was going up, I replaced it, put new coolant and drove fine. I have a feeling i didn't get the air out of the system properly, or maybe I missed something. I hope to find a solution to it. I also believe that maybe the MAF sensor is dirty or the Throttle body as well. Thank you for any advice.

P.s. I am trying to fix the issue myself and learning as I go, I don't want to spend a lot of money at a mechanic shop

I would check the simple stuff first: air filter, fuel filter, fuel pressure, spark plugs. If you have a scan tool available check codes and freeze-frame data.
