I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix GTP that I just got done installing in an engine that I got from a salvage yard in Colorado. The engine has 144k miles on it and I was told it had a new top end put on as well. I got the engine installed and running but i had to replace the power steering pump and the right CV axle came out of the housing when I was putting the motor in. The car engine runs fine but on the dash it says Theres low oil pressure, and the abs and the traction control need serviced and the power steering needs serviced.
Do I need to get a good scan tool to look at those things? My dads code reader didnt read any codes for those things.
2004 doesn’t really give alot of feedback. The abs and traction control could be related to your CV axle. Some have speed sensor rings on the end. When you say low oil pressure how low are we talking? Anything less than 25 isn’t good. Means the bearings in that motor are shot or your oil pump is failing.
Id have to test it again but i Did test it once with a pressure guage in the hole where the sending unit goes and it got up to 60 at idle even though the adapter i used wasnt tight and therefore was letting oil spew out from around it. Idk if that was a valid test though because of that

60 at idle isn’t low.
If the oil level and pressure is good, odds are that the pressure sensor is faulty.
