So I've always changed my own oil, and in my older vehicles, I have a 2003 Jeep grand Cherokee with almost 300,000 miles on it and my 2008 Chevy Silverado has about 250,000 on it, and when I change my oil I always add a little bit of Lucas oil to them, like half a quart. Now my wife bought a brand new Subaru Ascent and the oil specs I believe say that it takes 0 / 20 oil am I able to add Lucas to this newer type of engine set up where the oil has to be light to get to the top of the engine or should I not?
Thanks
you're just wasting money
I wouldn't use that snake oil in any modern engine, or any engine for that matter.
German cars and anything new/newer that use light weight or special oil don't not use any type of additive if it alters the viscosity. These engines are designed in such a way you can cause severe engine damage or failure. A small in increase in weight can starve the engine of oil and or cause pressures to build to high .
Not to mention it will void any warranty instantly.
