So i found this truck for $3,200 and i was wondering if it was a good idea to buy but i’m not a very mechanical person so i thought i’d ask you guys. The truck is a 94 silverado that runs and drives but it has a “stutter” at low rpm’s (thinking it just needs timed) and the radio needs rewired and tires need balanced so it is a good idea? thanks guys

It's nearly 30 years old, the stutter could be almost anything, the electrical system is compromised, and vibration can be caused by more serious problems than tire balance. Unless you're looking for a weekend project to learn auto mechanics on I'd pass on it.

I would not recommend buying a 30 year old vehicle with issues while not being mechanically inclined.

If you want to buy this truck with the intention of learning how to work on cars, then I would at least figure out what the stutter is (from a reputable mech), that way you know what you're getting into. Personally, I'd look for something with OBD2, 1996 - today. It can make diagnosing cars much easier with a relatively cheap scanner.

If youre not interested in this path, then Id just get something more modern.

$3200 for anything that runs and drives and can reasonably be called a truck is pretty good.  But why is the seller getting rid of it?  You need to find out (and don't just take their word for it).

To keep from buying a pig-in-a-poke, you need to get an inspection from a mechanic who knows those old trucks.  Otherwise, keep looking (old Silverados are not rare; make sure you get a good one).
