Hey scotty and gang,

My mother has a 2014 dodge grand caravan with 60,000 miles on it. I changed the fluid once at 45,000 miles, and i want to make last as long as possible. Should i, on my next fluid change (in approx 5000 miles) add a quart of Lucas stop slip as a preventative maintaince item with the ATF +4 fluid, or just use the OEM ATF +4 fluid by itself?

No. Do not put additives in a fully functional transmission.

It's all covered in the Frequently Asked Questions page.

No. Lucas "Stop Slip" is a temporary bandaid for failing transmissions and should not be used in a trans that's in good condition.

Your transmission works fine. Leave it alone.

I sure hope you changed the filter when you changed the fluid.

I did indeed changed the fluid and filter at that meilage. I continue to change the fluid and filter when i do a fluid change.

Excellent job!

You did the right thing by changing the fluid at 45,000 miles.  Just continue to stay on top of the transmission fluid and filter (if applicable) changes and don’t add any additives.  Do the next change at 85,000 miles, or every 40,000 miles.
