1997 Ford Ranger coolant temp needle doesn’t move

I have a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab 2WD. The coolant temperature needle will not move off cold. I have replaced the sensor three times. One with Ford OEM from the dealer. One from Rock Auto, one from Auto Zone. All three sensors registered different ohm resistance. I have replaced the temperature sender as well. the original sensor was a one pin connector. The Ford replacement had a two pin connector that I had to ground. Everything works from the connector to the gauge. I forced grounded it and the needle when to the top of hot. I changed the thermostat.  I evacuated the coolant system, flushed and replaced the coolant. My neighbor who is electrical engineer used resisters determine how many ohms was needed to move the needle to the normal operating range. I believe it took about 180 ohms. All the sensors read 800+ ohms while cold. The Ford sensor read in the mega ohms range. I took the das and instrument cluster out and determined all the connections are in proper working order. The vehicle has about 136k miles on it. Can you give me any assistance. <personal information removed by mod>. The vehicle does not run hot. According to the computer plug in thingy the temperature is in the normal range. It has an automatic transmition.

John's more likely that the gauge and the dash is bad. But really you can buy an aftermarket temperature gauge and sense are cheaply enough aftermarket and just replace it and have a cool little gauge wherever you want to put it on the dash under the dash. Whatever if you have that many problems with it
