Pre MAF sensor cleaning I had LTFT values of 7 to 12% on idle.
Post cleaning it's around 0 to 3%.
Why is this a good thing? What problems might I have prevented? Thanks

Why is this a good thing?
because you want the correct air/fuel mixture. A lot of engineering and effort goes into getting this exactly right.
What problems might I have prevented?
Most of all, poor fuel economy and reduced engine power.
(plus a host of other problems cause by incorrect mixture like running too hot, wearing out the catalytic converter, carbon buildup, etc.)
