If car runs better with MAF sensor unplugged, does that mean MAF sensor is bad or can it point to other things?

it can be other things. dirty filter ... vacuum leak ... etc. You need to look at more data. Like what is the MAF reading?

Chances are that you may need a new MAF sensor, though I'd go to your local mechanic just to check everything is running well in that department.
