I have a 2005 VW Touran 1.9 Diesel 77kw with the following issue:
On the highway at 100-130 kmh, in 6th gear it sometimes pops out slightly out 6th gear, not completely to neutral, just enough to grind the gears. This is quite random, sometimes it doesn't do it at all, sometimes it pops it out in 2-3 seconds. My guess is, one of the gear synchro's going bad.
All gears shift normally.
Since I'll have a mechanic open it anyway to check it out, in case the synchro is gone, should I replace just that one or all of them? And/or maybe some gears if they grinded too much?
Well it means that six gear is breaking down. That's the only thing that can do that
If one gear is breaking down, aren't the next gears going to fall right after? I'd rather replace all synchros when it's opened rather than taking it off and opening it a couple of times for each gear... ?
