97 maxima low miles 75k sat in drive way for a year had no gas in it when parked, replaced fuel pump and filter changed oil oil misted cylinders started and run like a top for about a week and then just acted like it ran out of gas. Replaced filter again and cut in a pressure gauge. Fuel pump runs for about a second but gauge shows no pressure, car fires when using starting fluid?

It sounds like your new fuel pump picked up all the crud from the bottom of the "empty" tank. I would remove the tank and clean it out then replace the fuel pump, sending unit and filter with new.
