I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla with 200k miles that I got a year ago thanks to Scotty's advice.
I just wanted cheap, reliable transportation with 30mpgs.
Sadly a few months after I bought it the water pump broke causing nearly $1,000 of repairs. Since then it has been great though and I love it, but it feels quite old and devoid of creature comforts.
I have been thinking about upgrading for a little nicer of a Commuter car recently and I was wondering if I could look into a Mazda 3. How are early 2010's Mazda 3's. I found a 2013 Mazda 3 for $5,500 with 130,000.
I know Scotty Kilmer says Mazdas are getting higher in quality now to come more in line with Toyota quality, but was that not the case 10 years ago?
Should I just play it safe and stick with a Corolla or Civic, or is a Mazda 3 a viable option?
Thank you for the advice!
What exact creature comforts & conveniences do you need? Can you please mention them?
Toyota's partnership with Mazda started in 2015, and the 2014+ Mazdas 3s are well made. The one you are talking about was when Mazda had a partnership with Ford and the automatic transmissions were weak. For 5 grand, you should look at a 2010-2011 Honda Civic or 2011-2013 Toyota Corolla. If you want more modern, save a couple grand more and get a 2014-2016 Toyota Corolla, 2013 Honda Civic, or 2014-2017 Mazda 3.
Just stick with the toyota because scotty has always said that a toyota was reliable
The Toyota and Honda are more reliable but Mazda isn't that far behind especially beginning of 2010 so if you like the Mazda 3 get one and ZOOM ZOOM.
