Mazda CX-5 Best Year?

As far as I can see, excluding the first gen, the 2017 seems like one of the best years. Is that correct? I can't afford one outright at the moment but I want to see if I can get a loan for a 2017 with the right amount of mileage and wear... Or perhaps a cheaper lease on a 2024? It depends what you experts think are the most reliable years. I'm going to put a lot of miles on quickly so I don't want a 10k cap or something. Also I'm trying to buy one in the midwest - ideally with a sunroof and AWD.

Thanks!

I would say the best year is like 20/20 but the 2017s can be okay. Mainly it's if they've been taken care of as  any used cars need to be checked out by a mechanic like myself to make sure it's in good shape

Yes 2020 you think is best - why? I have no need for the growing amount of electronics in the newest ones... So I'm trying to compare lease (which only allows 2025) or loan for 2017-2023ish. Mileage is case-by-case of course.

Once Scotty answers a question he doesn't revisit it. Additional insight can be gained by checking out several year models he has reviewed, which are in our forums here : List of CX-5s reviewed by Scotty
