Hi Scotty! First time caller, long time listener! I'm thinking about buying a used 2018 Mazda MX-5 miata , RF, grand touring - 40,000 miles. The first owner was a rental company and then an individual. What do you think about 1. buying a car that was once a rental and 2. used MX-5 RFs in general? It's an automatic, I can;t drive stick - I know what a shame! 🙂
I wonder why owner doesn't want it anymore.
2018: still 3 yrs after this generation came out.
buying a car from a rental company is generally not a good idea for two reasons:
1- generally people drive them as maniac. It is not your car and you rent precisely to beat it
2- most are self insured so even if they wreck it it does not appear (but of course a good mechanic can find it out)
being just a 2018 and the second owner is selling after a rental company, I would pass.
You might end up buying someone else problems.
There are plenty of good Miata to chose from.
