- Hey Scotty! Love your content.
my question is why do you not like Mazda’s? - I’ve had 3 of them, a 2006 Mazda Miata, 2009 Mazda rx8, and a 2007 MazdaSpeed3. The Miata and MazdaSpeed3 lasted about 210,000 miles and, for me at least, they were reliable. The rx8 was not but it was a fun car to drive. I guess it’s not fair because I am a mechanic and I fix my own cars lol.
You are right, Mazdas are reliable. Even the ones from the days of the partnership with Ford were decent cars. Now that Mazda has a partnership with Toyota they are even better.
"reliable" means two different things to gas-and-go drivers, and folks who fix cars themselves.
Sorry I meant in general. Don’t get me wrong, the rx8 and rotaries were never reliable by any stretch of the imagination. But the Miata I didn’t do that much other then regular oil changes and a spark plug or two. And the same with the MazdaSpeed3.
Mazdas used to lack quality back when they had a partnership with Ford.
Lately, after partnering with Toyota, their quality has greatly improved. But they still are not on the level that Toyota and Honda are.
The rotary engine cars were never reliable. The Miata was/is a well built little roadster. The MazdaSpeed cars were hit and miss.
Right lol. the rx8 I only owned for 4 months before I found out that if the rotary failed, there was no one to fix it and I didn’t know how to pull apart a rotary. The MazdaSpeed3 was a fun car but I also didn’t beat the mess out of it all the time. The Miata was the only car that I really regret letting go because, in my opinion of course, those could last just as long as a Corolla or Camry. I only did oil changes. Air filter and cabin air filter and a spark plug or two and that was really it as far as I can remember
A Miata, well maintained, CAN go the same as a Corolla or Camry. I've seen it happen. I think it is because it is a simple car and there isn't much to it. The engine doesn't have to work hard to haul around a car that light. Fun and good cars.
Scotty does like Mazdas, have you seen his videos on them? Lately he has been calling them "excellent" and "very high quality"
Of course these are the modern ones Mazda has been getting better for a while now
