Mechanic nightmares

Hi Everyone

I wanted to share my experience, I had my 2001 sequoia's oil change done by a mechanic close to me out of convenience. No research. as I'm driving out my car shuts down completely

on inspection I can see oil leaking and a big trail behind me. luckily there was nobody else around and I was driving at a low speed.

One tow later I'm talking to them and they admit it's their fault. But the only thing they can do is redo it correctly.

They won't even pay for the tow!

What damage could have been done to the engine? My car does not shift correctly anymore but I'm not sure if that has to do with the oil spill. I did drive for 500 miles afterwards.

the oil pressure gauge now does not go avobe the first line now 🙁

Only a mechanic knows for sure. They should drain out whatever is left of the oil and inspect it, and run a compression test.

The best case is the low oil switch shut if off before too much damage was done and you just have a bit of extra wear.

Worst case is the engine is ruined.

If the damage is over a few grand, lawyer up.

If it's less , see if you state has some form of small claims court for at least the tow bill.
