Hello my name is Asia, I have a 2016 Ford Focus SE flex fuel, my mileage is about 60000....I just put in a brand new radiator and reservoir about a month ago and it was running good after, now my engine light is on and the coolant is spitting out and also when I turn on the AC or heat the car feels weird I went to a mechanic to see if he could diagnose it but he said he couldn’t find any problems, now my engine light is currently off but sometimes when I would turn the car off or on I will hear clicking under the hood..do you know what may be causing the problem?
Hello get a new mechanic.
If the check engine comes on normally it will spit back a code to scan tool.
After this this u can look you can determine the problem.
Second you may have trapped air in system.
Usually you need to burp the coolant system for air when you change the radiator. Each car marker has a processor to do this. Ask your mechanic did he do this or person who change the radiator
@klob
Will that also make the Coolant tank become empty??
Hmmm check the colour of oil. With the dip stick.
I have a problem with an auxiliary water was not working and after 1 week of driving it needed to be refilled
If coolant is spitting out it is possible there is a head gasket leak. (I had a car ages ago that spat out coolant due to head gasket.) That's still a pretty new vehicle. Did it overheat? In any event it's probably worth using one of those inexpensive coolant test kits that Scotty has talked about to check for exhaust gases getting into the coolant.
The first thing you should do is go through the air purge procedure to make sure there is not air in the cooling system. Air in the system can absolutely make coolant spill out of the overflow/fill reservoir. This is because when coolant heats up it expands and take up more space in the cooling system which is a closed system. Based on the previous work that was done there is a very good chance that is the problem. The code was probably for your coolant temp sensor which will throw a code if the engine temperature is outside of normal operating temps. The code sometimes goes away if normal temps resume. Follow the procedure to purge air from the system and report back.
