Good for you to have the money to buy a used benz, no joke much praise haha! Hope you are prepared to continuously put money into it. It is an amazing car to drive but I will never want to own one. Say your were doing a brake job on the car. It's a sport car so maybe you were driving like how a sport car drives, no worries and whatnot, now time for the brake job. Well the rotors also need to be replaced with the pads, and you think that's okay. Boom, the shop wants $2000+ cause they used oem benz parts. Every maintenance item if you were gonna keep up with it will be like that, the average oil change plus inspection is like what? $120 in cali where I live? For benz it's like $200 without the inspection. Or if you have air suspension and one of those bags rip or crack, well that's another 1k per bag, and they are known to fail pretty often. Not trying to scare you into not getting the car, hell if I had the money I still wouldnt get one lol just be prepared for very expensive repairs. There be reason why the car depreciates in value so fast.
I just remember scotty saying it was not a bad car. I would do some of the work myself. Not that I would do everything. I could maybe change that brakes. I don't believe that car comes with air suspension but I could be wrong. I am just looking for a sports car around $15k and it needs to be fast and reliable. I would like back seats but not a must. Do you have any ideas?
Unfortunately I don't think you can do the brake job. Unless you have yourself a scan tool with features that will help you disengage the brakes, cause it's an electrical procedure instead of a mechanical one before you can start the job... Sports car around/less than 15k If it has to be benz, I would go e55 AMG, very more reliable than the SLK to say the least,though it is a boat and idk if that's what you are looking for, it is fast though. If not a benz then a whole lot of options come up. If you want reliable and zippy Honda S2k before the value skyrockets higher. Plenty of BMW's as well if you want to stick to euro, 3 or 5 series though the oil pan dilemma is real. Could also goes with all american mustangs 2014ish for 15k I think.
