Hi Scotty,
I recently replaced my stock Kumho tires on my 2020 Kia Forte LXS with the new Michelin Crossclimate 2. Have you had a chance to try them out and if so, what do you think of them. I consider myself a Michelin guy and had the Michelin Premier LTX on my old Ford Escape.
Thanks in advance.
Michelin Crossclimate work quite good, … but not much better than other top line, top brand A/S tires during three seasons. And as far as the fourth season - winter - goes, they work if snow is plowed off close to clear. Otherwise, they don’t even match a less than middling dedicated snow tire. Another words, don’t expect them to be a lot better than the ones you replaced, especially as they wear down past the first 3/32. At last remaining 4/32, they are pretty well slicks on cold clear pavement. fwiw
F.S.
These are newer ones that are A/S but also supposed to be rated for severe snow. We shall find out. I live in New Jersey if that helps so it isn't like Colorado, Minnesota, etc. otherwise I would put on dedicated winter tires when the time came around.
Now when I had my Escape (was supposed to be AWD but I'm not sure if it was automatic, the Kia is FWD), it was a used car and Continental Contiprocontact on them, so I don't know if they were stock and I didn't know how many miles were on them so I just replaced them with LTXs at the time.
Thanks for your help though thus far.
Reviews are consistently good. The worry is road noise from the funny tread pattern, but not everyone notices that and it maybe is more prominent with some sizes than others.
Michelin is very concerned about brand reputation and put out few truly bad tires. You should be good.
