Mini Cooper - Fuel Filter Question

Topic starter

I have a 2014 Mini Cooper S model (R57), 1.6 liter turbocharged engine with 104,000 miles. I was going through some preventative maintenance items and thought about changing the fuel filter. However, the fuel filter is inside the gas tank underneath the rear seats and I don't have the tools or space to do it myself. My local mechanic quoted me between $350-$400 (due to labor involved) to change fuel filter, but he didn't really feel it was necessary to do. Car is not having or displaying any running issues. Fuel trims both short and long are pretty normal between -2% to + 2%. I am 3rd owner of car and have run Shell V-Power gas ever since I got the vehicle around 10,000 miles ago.

My question is, does it make sense to change it anyway? Or should I wait until additional mileage?

Thank you!

May I just leave it alone as long as you buy quality fuel and don't take trips to Mexico where they have crappy gas
