What can cause a cylinder #3 misfire code? I'm thinking it's a bad coil or plug.

I'm thinking it's a bad coil or plug.
Why? It's possible, but what diagnostic procedures have you performed so far? Have you scanned for codes and checked live data? Don't just throw parts at the problem.
Also you have not told us a single thing about your vehicle. The info needed is requested in the site posting instructions.
