Hi Scotty. I love all the YouTube videos that you have posted. I have probably watched around 100 hours of your videos.
My issue is with my 2009 Pontiac Vibe 1.8L engine. I have about 150,000 miles on this engine. Lately I have been getting the misfires on cylinder 1 and 2 only when I first start the car. Normally about 27 misfires on the 1st and 2nd cylinder. after about 10 seconds, the engine will run fine.
I swapped the coils between 1 and 2 to 3 and 4 and the misfires stayed on cylinders 1 and 2. I changed the spark plugs and that did not solve the problem. The air filter is fairly clean. I have not done a compression test or a fuel pressure test. What should I try next?
Thanks for any help with this issue.
I don't think it's a fuel pressure problem. That would affect all cylinders.
Try the compression test, and swapping fuel injectors.
Thanks for the info. I thought about the fuel injectors after I posted it. The thing that confuses me the most is that it only happens within the first 10 seconds of starting the engine. I was thinking that it could be a fuel problem because 1 and 2 are at the end of the rail. Maybe the pump needs to warm up a little to put full pressure into the system. I was also thinking that the purge valve could be going bad. Thanks for your input Joe.
I have solved the issue (I think). When I was swapping the fuel injectors, the electrical connectors were dirty. I cleaned off the connectors and swapped (1 to 4 and 2 to 3) the fuel injectors. Added some grease to the connectors and it seems to be working great. Starting the car the last 5 times provided no misfires. Thanks again for your suggestion.
Glad you solved it
