Hi,
I am about to buy a mitsubishi montero with a motor on its way out and I want to do an engine swap on it. I was thinking a different v6 considering even small v8s are a tight fit any idea for over 250 hp and at least half decent gas mileage and price
Have you looked into a 3.5 from a Nissan 350z? 280hp, The Nissan pathfinders run that and there amazing? I’ve been looking to see if anyone else has tried it into a 01’ Montero but I can’t find a thing
Do not even think about it. It is not a LEGO to swap engines like that. There are so many stuff (fittings, computers, sensors,...) that need to be matched, otherwise the car does not run fine.
Not sure what Yaser is saying here... Engine swaps are never meant to be LEGO projects...
Assuming you actually got it perfectly fitted and it ran perfectly, the computer would have a heart palpatation.
Unless you plan on creating your own computer system, you would likely have to wire everything to a control panel, which would get complicated fast.
Crazy swaps have been done. Westen Champlin put a 12 valve Cummins diesel into a 2018 Mustang 4cyl...
That being said, for a practical driver, if you really want to do some sort of swap, put a stock motor in it. Maybe you could modify it, turbocharger, etc. But don't try to put a different motor in there unless you are prepared to tackle a mess of a computer system.
Go to Jay Leno's Garage, and find the vid on the "Tank Engine Car" he put an air cooled V 12 engine out of a M47 tank into a custom car.
As far as the Mitzu goes, I can only thing it would become a MAJOR PITA!
Hello,I have a 202 Mitsubishi outlander and I as thinking of changing it to another and bigger Mitsubishi car engine. Is that possible? If yes, what is the best Mitsubishi engine that can be fitted on the same car?Kindly let me know.Thank you
